The power of a good social story…
Sera and I managed to make it to this interview on time, and even complete the interview, because the interviewer took the time to explain the process beforehand, which enabled me to create a social story for Sera.
Social Stories work like magic!
With her social story grasped in her hand, Sera was confident she knew what was next and really enjoyed the novelty of the lights and cameras. She did get a bit tired of the sitting down eventually and you can clearly hear her say ”Go!” near the end 😂
I can’t emphasise enough how different and stressful things are (for both of us) when we don’t use a social story. Yes, it’s a lot of time spent preparing, but it saves us both time and more importantly STRESS later on.
